Permanent Lip Enlargement
Permanent lip enlargement is highly recommended if you desire larger or fuller lips. Permanent lip enlargement creates fuller lips without the need for repetitive treatments, such as those necessary to preserve the results of collagen injections or fat transfer procedures.
Permanent lip enlargement involves taking a piece of tissue from somewhere in the body (determined by Dr. Henry) and grafting it into one or both lips. A short incision is made in the corner of each lip. Then a tunnel is shaped under the fleshy part of the lip and the graft is pulled through and anchored at each end. Finally, sutures are inserted to close the incisions. Dr. Henry will discuss the alternatives and assist in choosing the best source of tissue graft for you. Less permanent methods involving dermal injections are available and will be discussed by Dr. Henry.
Permanent lip enlargement is performed on an outpatient basis at our San Francisco Bay area centers and can be done with local anesthesia only, although the use of sedation plus local or general anesthesia will make the operation much easier to tolerate. The lips are noticeably swollen for a week or two. Sutures are removed in about a week and lip sensation is usually returns to normal after the initial healing.
Additional plastic surgery procedures at our San Francisco Bay area centers that may enhance permanent lip enlargement results are facelift, rhinoplasty, cheek implants, eyelid lift, and forehead lift.
